Smith Mountain Lake Striper Slot Limit
30 inch – 40 inch protective slot limit (all striped bass caught between 30 and 40 inches must be immediately released unharmed, fish under 30 inches and over 40 inches may be creeled). Fish Size Limits. On Smith Lake, it is illegal to possess a black bass that measures 13-15 inches in length. The ABT will adhere to the specified slot limit on Smith Lake.

2019/2020 Striper Mafia Tournament Series on Smith Mountain Lake, VA
The Striper Mafia is hosting our fifth season of a “CPR” (Catch-Photo-Release) tournament series on Smith Mountain Lake, VA. Events will be held in November, December, March & April during which the “slot” is in place to protect our larger fish, and be conducted in a “Catch-Photo-Release” style. The format will feature a Captain’s meeting on the evening before at a location to be defined to review the rules and hand out approved measuring devices & photo token cards and “lines in water” will follow at safe-light as designated for each tournament, with the “check-in” at a time to be determined later that day. Tournament fees are to be paid at the Captain’s Meeting (in cash). Pre-registration is encouraged due to the limited number of slots, but we ask that you have full intention of fishing the event before registering.
